The behemoth retail destination that is the Prime Outlets mall in San Marcos has added another high-end retailer to its repertoire of fashion icons.

The new Gucci Outlet store will span 6,172 square feet. The retailer will open its doors later this week.

The Gucci store in San Marcos marks only the fourth outlet site for the luxury brand in the world.

“Prime Outlets — San Marcos is known throughout the region for its unique collection of luxury designer outlets,” says Karen Fluharty, senior vice president of marketing for Prime Outlets. “We are thrilled Gucci has chosen Prime Outlets as the home for its newest outlet store. The Gucci Outlet will surely be a draw from outlet shoppers from Texas, Mexico and beyond.”

The Gucci Outlet in San Marcos will offer shoppers the chance to save anywhere from 30 percent to 50 percent on branded items — including clothing, shoes, handbags and other accessories.

Gucci was founded in Florence, Italy, in 1921. It is one of the world’s leading luxury manufacturers of products such as leather goods, timepieces, silks and jewelry.

The new Gucci Outlet in San Marcos joins a line-up of other high-end retailers offering shoppers significant savings — including Giorgio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo, Victoria’s Secret, Pottery Barn and Michael Kors.

All told, the Prime Outlets — San Marcos boasts more than 130 luxury and brand names — brought together in a center with an architectural style inspired by the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy.

Baltimore-based Prime Retail is the parent company for Prime Outlets. To date, Prime Retail’s slate of shopping centers spans more than 8 million square feet throughout several U.S. markets and Puerto Rico.

Prime Outlets — San Marcos, together with The Tanger Outlet Center, has made San Marcos a major destination for brand names at deep discounts. The two centers span more than one million square feet.
