Ollie’s Bargain Outlet will be arriving in Danville this summer, renting 30,000-square-feet of space in the old Schewel’s store in Kings Fairground Mall at the corner of Piney Forest Road and Riverside Drive.

Jeff Dash, vice president of retail leasing for The Lightstone Group, which owns the shopping center, said Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is the Mid-Atlantic’s largest retailer of closeout, surplus and salvage merchandise, with locations in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.

Work has begun on the necessary renovations, Dash said Friday.

“We’re about 45 days to completion of the landlord work,” he said.

Then, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet can start bringing in merchandise and setting up the store.
The store will carry clothing, housewares and an assortment of other merchandise, Dash said.

“There’s a little of everything,” he said, adding that all merchandise is at discounted prices. “Their slogan is ‘Good stuff cheap.’”

A news release from the Lightstone Group said Virginia Bank and Trust, in the same shopping center, had renewed its lease for five years.

“The Danville community will greatly benefit with the addition of Ollie’s, as well as the continued presence of Virginia Bank and Trust,” Dash said in the news release. “We look forward to Ollie’s becoming a long-standing member of the community just as Virginia Bank and Trust had done.”
